A space invasion is heading to Rochdale Exchange this week, with the launch of a life-size intergalactic, interactive game that is offering shoppers the chance to win a host of ‘out of this world’ prizes.
‘Space Gems’ will be blasting off on Friday 20 July, running until Sunday 16 September, and is part of the centre’s 40th birthday celebrations which take place this September. Located along the old Market Hall, it will be based on the classic space invaders arcade game and in recognition of the centre’s ruby anniversary, it has been given the honorary title of ‘Space Gems’.
Lorenzo O’Reilly, Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre manager, said: “We want to introduce something a little different as part of the celebratory plans to mark our 40th year that will not only be fun and engaging for our customers, but that also gives them the chance to take home a range of fantastic prizes.
“The centre sits at the heart of Rochdale and we have planned brilliant events with our loyals customers in mind, so we hope the community will thoroughly enjoy the festivities. Our Space Gems interactive game is only the beginning of what promises to be several exciting months of activities as we gear up for our birthday in September.”
Budding space crusaders will have to battle their way through various levels of the game to be in with a chance to win. There are three different tiers of prizes up for grabs – bronze, silver and gold – and depending on what level the participant gets to, these will vary from a free cup of coffee to Oakley sunglasses or tablets.
The ‘Space Gems’ interactive game will be available to shoppers from Friday 20 July running until Sunday 16 September and is located along the old Market Hall.
